Elementary Assessments

At the elementary level, students will participate in a number of required state tests.  

NC End of Grade Reading Test (EOG): Grades 3-5
Purpose: Assess mastery of grades 3-5 reading based on Common Core Standards

NC End of Grade Math Test (EOG): Grades 3-5
Purpose: Assess mastery of grades 3-5 math based on Common Core Standards

NC End of Grade Science Test (EOG): Grade 5 only
Purpose: Assess mastery of 5th grade science based on Essential Standards

Third through Fifth Grade students also participate in formative and benchmark assessments. These are much shorter assessments that help teachers and school leaders to guide instruction based on how students are progressing with the concepts in class.  Schools may make assignments for remediation and enrichment based on the outcomes of the assessments.
