Apple Distinguished School
We are pleased to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2023-2026 for inspiring, imagining and impacting teaching and learning schoolwide through continuous innovation.
Our Story
The learning culture of our school promotes collaborative problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. It is the goal of Pink Hill Elementary to meet the needs of each student through strategic differentiation. Teachers are able to differentiate assignments and address various learning styles through our learning management system. Students use multimodal tools to draw, video, and voice record their learning progress. Teachers instruct students on their individual readiness level, provide immediate feedback, and provide parents with real time feedback. Through the use of our learning management system, feedback is specific, targeted, immediate, and responsive allowing for immediate course correction as needed.
Inspire
At our school, students are always at the forefront of all decisions that are made. We strive to provide our students with an environment that inspires a love of learning. One way in which we do this is by providing students with engaging lessons that let them explore the world around them through the use of technology. We provide students with opportunities to utilize their iPads both at school and at home. This continuity allows for student learning to extend outside of the classroom and into their worlds bridging both economic and cultural gaps.
Imagine
Students must buy into their educational journey in order to be successful. By providing students with choice, they are given a voice in this journey. Students are able to work in collaborative groups to complete assignments, they are given choice boards to decide the best method to display their learning, and students participate in project-based learning opportunities. Students are responsible for tracking their own data and can readily visualize their success through the student data management system. Students are constantly at the forefront of their learning, and their excitement shines through into their work samples. We celebrate success.
Impact
We have had the opportunity to share our school’s successes at our school board meetings, along with broadcasting our successes on our school Facebook page. Student successes are shared at the district’s annual Gifted Gala, where we highlight innovative student work samples. Not only do we share student success, we also share teacher success. We have teachers that have worked at the state level developing curriculum and providing professional development to teachers, as well as presenting at state conferences. Our school successes are often published by our local news outlets and we have had several television spotlights.
